Quote from Bmxtwins :Meanwhile at Hendricks, Chase Elliot will start driving select cup races in the near future.

Hendrick*

I look forward to that, for me, he and Larson are the two best up-and-comers we've had in a looong time. I'm just wondering if he'll take over the 24 when Jeff retires, or possibly take Kahne's ride if they don't renew in two years.

How do they plan to accomplish that though, they already have 4 cars. Satellite team?

Quote from UncleBenny :How many more years does Roush really have in Nascar? That whole operation is falling apart.

Agreed. It's a bit like RCR in my opinion. Sure they have Dillon, but I don't see him being that great. I could see him being someone like Edwards or Kahne. Capable of winning, but doesn't win constantly.

Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :Finally got to try some MP racing on the weekend. The netcode seemed quite good now in terms of smoothness/lag etc. But are my eyes failing me or do other's cars seem to not point into the corner properly??

It's a known issue.

The netcode and overall MP experience has improved a lot since MP was first released, but I still feel like it has a long, long way to go until it has the potential for any real organized racing. Right now it's just something I hop on when I'm bored.

That's incredibly sad news for me, I was looking forward to another shot at Formula M so much. I understand your reasoning completely though, best of luck with your future endeavours.

Thanks for the championship last year too, I had a lot of fun.

It's not any effect, as Eclipsed said, that's how FFB works. Any real car would do that in a similar situation.

Because Tom is Dutch.

It's a really nice mod, got to play around with it in Rigs of Rods (my first love), and AC. It's really cool to see Tom and Dustin branch out into modding AC.

Quote from TexasLTU :Probably this years 37.17 average (yet who made it into the race before bumping so far)

Yeah, Saturday wasn't my day. I was doing decent before turn 1 of my last lap, then I clipped the apron. Killed my run completely. I think the last lap time was 37.38 or something like that, it was crazy, I was so frustrated with myself at that point. Mostly because I threw a "passable" run (37.06) out the window and ended up running a 37.11 as my second run. I was more than confident that I could overcome that, but luck just wasn't with me, lol.

Luckily we had Sunday, managed to run a 37.035, as you can see on the results. It's still not the fastest I've managed, If memory serves the best average I've ever had was a 37-flat, it's a shame to me that I couldn't pull that out for qualifying. It would have only earned me 22nd, but it's still way better than what I ran. I'm at least in the race, so I have a chance to race my way into a better position, which I'm happy about.

Anyway, congratulations to Patrick, and the rest of the top-qualifiers, well deserved.

I'd been playing the tech demo for quite some time, even the original version from 2011, but I bought it about a week ago. Really fun game, since I'm an off-road nut. The best part by far has to be the multiplayer, grab a few good friends, pick a map, go out driving for hours. That's priceless.

It does need a fair bit of work, though. It feels somewhat like a demo still, and can get boring if you're playing alone. The maps also need more diversity IMO, it's just mud, mud, mud, mud, and mud. I'd like to see some rocky hills that require more than just a slightly modified Russian truck to navigate. Possibly even a more international feeling map, something from the Northern US, or Canada, a bit more of a lush forest feeling, possibly some snow mixed in. There's a lot than can be explored with the game, they have the base down, they just need to improve the content quality. That will partially be taken care of with mods, of course, but you can't leave everything up to the community.

Also I feel like the damage deserves mention, I find it entirely too easy to damage your vehicle in a lot of situations. For instance, I'll be driving down a road minding my business, then I go over a tiny bump, usually barely noticeable, yet I get double digits in damage. How is that realistic? I can understand when I plow full-speed into a large rock, but come on. It's a bit comical to me.

Now all of the other features seem to be in-check for the most part, the physics do feel a bit heavy and lifeless at some point. But it's not a racing simulator. I mean, you barely get over 20-25mph most of the time. Yes, the physics can be improved, but the question is, should they? They do what they need to, and I think the excellent physics brought forth by the mud, vegetation, and water's behavior kind of makes up for the lack of detailed vehicle physics.

Overall I give the game a 7.5/10. It's worth the $30 I spent on it, simply because it's one of the best off-road oriented games out there. But I can understand why some people are disappointed in it.

All I can say is long live LFS! Well done guys.

The updates have really kept me interested in LFS at a time where, despite only being here for a little over a year, I was beginning to have a bit of doubt about its future. Knowing the history and such. Thanks for saving me from the fate of becoming just another naysayer.

Quote from Scawen :That sounds like Full screen vertical sync (Misc Options). But if that was on it would never go above 60. Have you tested again by running the original 0.6E exe and checking the same views? Another thing to check is Mirror antialiasing (Graphics Options) but I don't remember any reports about that causing much slowdown.

I have checked both of those options, neither really affects my FPS. And yes, I tested in 0.6E. Same FPS as in the patches.

I'm all for AA by default too, since I upgraded my comp a few months ago I've had no issue with running higher graphics settings.

After playing around with 0.6E19 a bit, I noticed that my FPS is virtually cut in half, from over 100 in most situations, to under 60 in most. After running some of the recent test patches, all the way back to the release version of 0.6E, it's still the same case. The weirdest part is I haven't noticed it until now.

I'm unsure if it's related to LFS, or an issue on my end. But I do know that running in windowed mode sends my FPS back to where it was before, well over 100, which I really find odd.

I'll look into all I can, but I just wanted to put this out there, maybe see if anyone else has this happen.

Thanks, so much! It's great to hear that an update is finally on its way.

Now I'll scurry off and see if I come across any issues, which I thankfully haven't so far.

Quote from Keling :Am I the only guy who thinks RoR (and this BeamNG thing now) soft body physics actually looks terrible?

Face it people, we are far far away from having enough computational power to do this in the right way, let alone sync it well over long distances.

It's far from perfect, and depends very heavily on the skill of the vehicle creator. But it's the closest thing to real life we've been able to muster. To be honest the engine has very little to do with the vehicle behavior.

But on the topic of bringing it to LFS, it's not needed, BeamNG is a crash game for destructive 12-year-olds above all, it's nowhere near a decent simulator yet. RoR however had the chance to evolve into a simulator where literally any vehicle can be (somewhat) accurately represented, but that's beside the point. LFS is a racing simulator, the only time you would be crashing is if you, or someone around you, makes a mistake. The crash only lasts as little as a fraction of a second. Yes, LFS' crash physics could use work to make the behavior and damage more realistic, but we don't need a full-on simulation of every body panel like Soft-Body sims bring to the table. It's just overkill.

Not to mention, it would be nearly impossible to implement at this point in LFS' development, RoR and BeamNG were developed from the start with this technology. LFS has been developed for 12 years without the thought of this being used. You'd literally have to start from scratch and attempt to recreate to a tee the physics that we have in LFS currently, along with handling the challenges of creating a decent Soft-Body engine, which are immense.

It just doesn't make sense, and even if there was a reason to do it, you'd be looking at another decade at least, to get it into a respectable state.

I suppose I missed something?

Oh, the Indy 500. Not a big deal for me personally, but I'm sure I'd say different if I was planning to compete.
